Kashgar Hunza valley K2 Base Camp Trek is a trek designed to have an insight of Hunza valley and kashgar China with classic K2  Base Camp Trek, starting and ending at Kashgar China.The mighty mountain, K2 is a fascinating mountain, and the world’s 2nd highest peak, stands high above all others in the rugged Karakorum range of the Himalaya’s.

Kashgar Hunza valley K2 Base Camp Trek follows a trekking route lined with rugged mountains all the way from Askole, the last village in the Braldu gorge over Baltoro Glacier to Concordia.  On our walk up the Baltoro glacier we will see the Trango Towers, Masherbrum, K2 and Broad Peak among many others.   • Arrival in Kashgar China

    Welcome to Kashgar! You will be greeted by an English-speaking assistant at the airport after immigration and custom. The assistant will escort you to bus for your hotel. We will have ample time for sightseeing and shopping in colorful old bazaars of Kashgar. The rest of the day is free at leisure.

  • Drive to Tashkurgan China

    Today we drive to Karakul Lake along the famous Karakorum highway. The scenery along the way is breathtaking. We will be stopping at the Lake where you can enjoy the view of Muztagh-ata Mountains. Optional camel ride or walk around the Lake. Later we continue to Tashkurgan the last Tajik Chinese town between China and Pakistan.

  • Drive to Khunjerab Pass - Cross China/Pakistan Border- Hunza Valley Pakistan

    After border formalities at China side, we drive to the world’s highest paved border crossing, the Khunjerab pass (4750 m height) between Pakistan and China. 

    Today’s major drive will take us to Khunjerab Pass, Khunjerab Pass, the gateway between China & Pakistan via the Karakoram Highway, is at 4,934m.which half of the park is above 4,000m.  Khunjerab National Park is Pakistan’s third largest national park. It is adjacent to Tashkurgan Natural Reserve (1,400,000ha) in China.

    It gives some of spectacular sceneries for photographers of wild life. where you may have a sighting of endangered Marco Polo sheep, which is only found in this area in Pakistan. The park is also famous for its snow leopards. Some reports say that it might contain the highest density of these beautiful cats in the total Himalayan ecosystem, which is the natural habitat of these cats. Over 2,000 Siberian ibex, widely distributed and abundant in the park but absent from neighbouring China, are also present here.

    The drive is compensated by the beautiful scenery along the Karakoram highway. The journey on the Karakoram Highway is most exciting and thrilling. It is a monument to the engineering feast and one of the most spectacular roads and the world’s highest metaled border crossing. It connects Pakistan and China stretching over a distance of 1300km between Islamabad and Kashgar, winding through three mountain ranges and following the ancient Silk route along the Indus Valley to the Chinese border at Khunjerab Pass.On the way, you will view the awesome mountain ranges of the Karakorum and Kunlun mountains.

    After immigration formalities at Sost (border town Pakistan side) you will we proceed to Passu Glacier, Husaini and  Attabad lake. The glaciers are really eerie, almost alive, as they creak and melt in the sun. Rocks continually fall down as the ice melts.Experience the passu glacier cracking and spikes from the view point.

    In the evening drive to Hunza valley.

    The valleys of Hunza and Nagar are some of the most beautiful valleys in the northern parts of Pakistan. The people of this area are known for their legendary good health, longevity and hospitality.

    In Hunza valley, Baltit Fort is an ancient fort in the Hunza valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Founded in the 1st CE, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative list since 2004.

    In the past, the survival of the feudal regime of Hunza was ensured by the impressive fort, which overlooks Karimabad. The foundations of the fort date back to 700 years ago, with rebuilds and alterations over the centuries. In the 16th century the local prince married a princess from Baltistan who brought master Balti craftsmen to renovate the building as part of her dowry. Visit around the area, you would feel as if you’d stepped back in time in past period.

  • Drive to Gilgit - Skardu

    After Breakfast, we will start our journey towards Gilgit on KKH with en route stop at Rakaposhi View point, which offers a superb view of Rakaposhi Peak.Rakaposhi accessible only by 4 to 5 hrs. Walk from the road, dominates the whole valley. This area is full of apricots, apples, grapes and peaches.

    After a brief stop in gilgit we will continue our journey towards Skardu via scenic Rondu valley.

    SKARDU is the administrative capital of Baltistan and gateway to the high peaks of Northern Pakistan. We have some time to explore the town and enjoy the hustle and bustle in peak season of tourists here. Sightseeing in Skardu and surrounding areas during the day. For those seeking a good overview of Skardu, or a place from which to photograph the sunset, Kharfocho Fort is an ideal spot. If the flight is unable to operate because of bad weather, we will resort to travel by road on Karakoram Highway (KKH) to Chilas. We pass through the historical town of Taxila, beautiful hill station of Abbottabad, quake affected lush green towns of Mansehra, Shinkiari and finally meet the great Indus on Thakot Bridge. From there onward the road snails along the bank of the Indus with contrasting landscape after every two kilometers. Standing at around 1,000 m. you see a mountain which rises to above 8,000 m! This is the largest land escarpment in the world. This is also where the three greatest mountain ranges meet; Himalaya, Hindukush and Karakoram.

  • Jeep to ASKOLE

    Today we rise early and view the beautiful sunrise against the backdrop of the Karakoram. After breakfast drive to Shigar, a history-soaked medieval town. There is also a heritage Palace cum Fort (Fong khar ). Completely renovated by the AKCSP a few years back, the Palace and its suburbs reflects a medieval look. Here we will pay a brief visit to the Garden House, Royal room, museum handicraft shop and The Khanqah Moalla, famous for its uniquely carved wooden windows and meditation cells. Shigar retains a mystical, medieval aura that may leave you feeling like you have stepped through the looking glass.Then an exciting jeep journey takes us through the fields of the Shigar valley before the road narrows to a mountain track leading to the trail head at Askole, the last inhabitancy on our way to the great glaciers. Highest in the region, the stone & timber abodes contain dark & narrow stairwells raven by gloomy, unlit alleys cluster within the embrace of the fertile terraces.

  • Trek to JULA

    Today we leave the last inhabited village Askole. Porters are assembled to carry our luggage for the next section of the journey. For the remaining portion of our journey we rely on our porters who carry our food and equipment and sustain our expedition. After scrambling over a ridge we come across what legend says an old polo field. Passing through a rock gap we cross the Biafo glacier. The Biafo Glacier is a huge river of ice 63 km long which descends from the central peaks of the Karakoram and flows east into the Braldu valley at a point about 10 km east of Askole. After two and a half hour trek a long and uphill walk over a steep ridge along the Dumordo river. descend at Jula, (wire rope bridge supported by a wooden basket) cross it and camp beside a torrent facing the Bakhordas peak.

  • Trek to PAIU

    Resume trek along the Braldu River to a green oasis under the shadows of Paiu Peak, the last grove of trees before the trail moves onto the glacier, 6611 M. Paiu – is a Balti dialect word that means “SALT”. Since there are some rock salt deposits at the base of this peak, the locals believe that the snow on the summit of Paiu Peak is not snow but a huge deposit of salt which drips down to the base. From this camp we have the first views of the impressive Baltoro Glacier.

  • Trek to KHO BURSE

    Today we resume trek with a gradual climb up Baltoro Glacier on the southern edge.

    After about two hours the path divides at the snout of Baltoro glacier where the left branch goes to the base camp of Trango Tower and the Serpo Lgo pass. Continue to the right climbing up on to the glacier that stretches up the valley, 62 km long and 2 km wide.

    Further 2-3 hours steady climb on a long diagonal to the other side. Follow the southern edge to Liliwa and onward to Khuburse, a lovely walk for about 90 minutes to the campsite with clear water.

  • trek to URDUKAS

    Today morning we leave Kho-burse camp and walk mostly along the crest of lateral moraine towards Urdukas. This camp has superb views across the Baltoro Glacier to the Trango peaks, having view of Paiu Peak, Chorichi, Uli Biaho, Trango Tower and so on and is our last ‘green grass’ campsite.

  • URDUKAS - REST DAY

    This is the last campsite the main glacier, with very impressive views over the Baltoro and to the dramatic rock spires on the opposite on grassy slopes off side of the glacier. (Courtesy by Udom Peter) So based on our past experience rest day at Urdukus comes with the following advantages. Helps the acclimatization process and has proved to more effective than a rest day at Paiu. Can take a pleasant walk behind the campsite through grassy slopes full of alpine flowers. Climbing high & sleeping low is the best way to help the acclimatization process. Trek leader will lead a training session explaining in detail the techniques for crossing the Gondogoro La.

  • trek to GORO II

    A long walk on the icy Baltoro Glacier, Traveling on the glacier all the time now, it is an all day walk over the boulder-strewn glacier to the campsite at Goro. Traverse the Yerma-nandu Glacier which flows down from Masherbrum & joins the Baltoro. Masherbrum is visible on the right side of the glacier, and Mustagh Tower on the left. Gasherbrum IV and Broad Peak can be seen directly ahead, as they catch the evening sunlight.

  • trek to CONCORDIA

    Trekking to the campsite at Concordia, we pass through some of the most spectacular mountain scenery in the world; a huge junction of Baltoro, Abruzzi & Godwin Austin Glaciers at 4000 meters. Within a short radius of 15 Kilometers, stand 41 peaks over 6500 meters including 04 peaks above 8000 M. The 360 view offers a panorama of peaks nowhere to be found on this planet.

  • Rest Day/ Trek to K2 Broad Peak Base Camp and return to Concordia

     Option to trek to Broad Peak Basecamp (4800m) and K2 Basecamp (5100m).                              

  • Trek back to Goro I

     Trek down the Baltoro Glacier to Goro I

  • Trek down to Khoburse

     Trek via Urdukas with views of Beela Peak to Khorbose .                            

  • Trek down to Paiju

    Trek on the Baltoro Glacier with spectacular views of the Trango Towers to Paiju                             

  • Trek to Korofong

     Trek via the Panma Valley and the ‘Cliffs of Jhola’ to Korofon

  • Trek to Askole

     Trek past the snout of the Biafo Glacier to the village of Askole.  

  • jeep to SKARDU

    A jeep journey along narrow mountain roads passing small farming settlements leads first to Braldo and Shigar valely to Skardu (6-7hrs).  Upon arrival transfer to hotel.

    Drive    07-08 hrs.

  • Drive to Hunza

    After breakfast, we  travel along Indus River to Gilgit and onward to Hunza. with en route stop at Rakaposhi View point, which offers a superb view of Rakaposhi Peak. The valleys of Hunza and Nagar are some of the most beautiful valleys in the northern parts of Pakistan.     Main attraction of this road journey is Rakaposhi Base Camp and Altit and Baltit Forts. Baltit Fort is an ancient fort in the Hunza valley in Gilgit-Baltistan, Pakistan. Founded in the 1st CE, it has been on the UNESCO World Heritage Tentative list since 2004.

  • Drive to Sust - Tashkurgan

    After border formalities, we will drive by private transport to Tashkurgan where you will meet our Chinese guide and transferred to your hotel

  • Kashgar

    After break fast In the morning, we visit Tashkurgan Fort, dating back from the 14th century. You can enjoy an impressive view of the surrounding fields, mountains, and military complexes from the old walls. Then we start with a three-hour drive to the enchanting Karakul Lake with breathtaking views of the Muztagh Ata (the father of the ice mountains) reflected on the still waters.

    Karakul Lake is 3600 meters above sea level. It is located between Mt. Muztagata  (7546 meters) and Mt. Gonger (7719 meters), which are said to be 2 of the 6 most beautiful mountains in the World. We will visit the local Kyrgyz Yurts and listen to their stories about traditional ways of nomadic mountain life. There is never enough time to take in its beauty before we head off for the historic city of Kashgar located at the western end of the Taklimakan Desert.

    After Karakul lake,  we will arrive in Oytagh Red Mountain>. The mountain valley is surrounded by a beautiful backdrop of multi-coloured mountains topped by snowcapped peaks,  Corner Lake (Bulung Kul) is a tranquil shallow lake where you can take very nice photographs of the lake with stunning reflections of the sand mountains.

    After this Opal village is in sight. It is a good location to take photos of village life and traditional activities like bread making and Uyghur food stalls.
